Protected by mail armour and wielding axes, these fearsome warriors are effective cavalry.
Literally meaning 'house man', Huscarls are the loyal household soldiers of Scandinavian nobles. Protected by mail armour and wielding axes, they resemble the Vikings of old. However, they have abandoned the ancient ways of fighting on foot, and now fight from horseback as do their peers in the rest of Europe. Though brave and fierce, they can not yet match the horsemanship of nations more accustomed to the saddle.
